This 8-hour course ensures armed security guards are proficient in firearm use, legal knowledge, and safety protocols, preparing them to responsibly carry out their duties.
Lesson plan and is the only authorized continuing firearms training program for armed security guards. Required every 2 years.
Course Objectives:
Re-certify armed security guards to carry firearms
Understand force escalation and legal use of deadly force
Pass a written test with 100% accuracy (minimum 70% initial score)
Demonstrate shooting proficiency with live rounds

Ammunition inspection and storage
Training household members and addressing hazards
Law and Legal:
Overview of Arizona firearms laws
Legal responsibilities of armed guards
Contacting law enforcement and reporting incidents
Weapon Care and Maintenance:
Cleaning and maintenance of handguns
Importance of following the owner's manual
Mental Conditioning and Tactics:
Visualization techniques and defensive measures
Confrontation management and use of force
Post-incident procedures and psychological impacts
Weapon Manipulation and Marksmanship:
Shooting positions, drawing/holstering techniques
Grip, sight alignment, trigger control
Loading/unloading and malfunction drills
Threat Recognition and Judgmental Shooting:
Scenarios for shoot/no-shoot decisions
Escalation and de-escalation of force
Emphasis on firearms as a last resort
Written Test and Firearm Qualification:
15-question written test with a minimum 70% score (100% on retests)
50-round live fire qualification with 70% accuracy
